The ever-growing reliance we have on technology has boomed since the advent of social media, especially and specifically with phones. Just 15 years ago, the favoured way of accessing services like Facebook was through a computer but this changed at a radical pace following the introduction of the iPhone in 2007 and the opening of the iOS App Store in 2008.

Since then, the app economy now in its teens has become a multi-billion dollar industry built on technologies founded in behavioural change and habit forming psychology.

In recent reports it was outlined that Apple would be bringing the media/function keys, SD card reader and even the MagSafe connector back to the MacBook Pro in 2021. A great sign for its return to good design. What do I mean by return? I’ll show you.

In 2016 Apple released the redesigned MacBook Pro which removed essential ‘Pro’ ports in place of USB-C and introduced the Touch Bar which replaced the top row of function keys. This was following the introduction of the 2015 MacBook, the laptop that welcomed us to the new era of Apple industrial design that would reign from then until the foreseeable future.
